Frozen Head State Park

Frozen Head State Park is located in Morgan County, Tennessee, and is the highest mountain range west of the Blue Ridge. It is located at 3208, 964 Flat Fork Rd, Wartburg, TN 37887. This mountain range is a favorite among hikers and mountain climbers. Visitors are often amazed by its natural beauty and rugged terrain. The park has great hiking trails and is open year-round.

Frozen Head State Park features hiking trails, as well as a waterfall. The park also has camping and equestrian activities. It is open year-round, and the weather is generally mild, making it an ideal destination for hiking enthusiasts. During the summer months, the park is popular for hiking, and you can camp there or enjoy other in-park activities.

The park's observation deck offers 360-degree views. The observation deck is accessible via a seven-mile scenic trail. From the observation deck, you can admire the mountain and the surrounding landscape. On clear days, you can see the Great Smoky Mountains on the west, and the Tennessee Valley on the east. In winter, the mountain is covered in snow, making the views even more amazing.

All but 330 acres of the park is protected by the state. The park is mostly undeveloped, and has few structures and roads. Nevertheless, some history has been etched in its terrain. In the early 20th century, prisoners used this area to dig coal. Later, they cut down trees to supply the timber industry.

The park has a wide range of activities to engage in. There are hiking trails, waterfalls, and trout-filled streams. The park also boasts a large number of picnic areas. Camping facilities are available in several areas, including Big Cove and Old Mac. Some sites are accessible only by foot, while others require backcountry camping permits. More here.

Hikers can also visit Debord Falls, a waterfall that is easy to reach and surrounded by beautiful landscape. The waterfall is not too far from the park, and the hike is just 0.55 miles one-way. The park's visitor center also sells maps, souvenirs, books, and T-shirts.

Hikers can explore the park's mountain trails. There are seven miles of developed trail and 13 miles of undeveloped trails. The Cumberland Trail crosses Bird Mountain before descending into the Emory River Gorge. This trail is an ideal way to transition from ridge-top hiking to watershed hiking. Begin your hike at the Bird Mountain Trailhead, located near the Big Cove Campground. From there, you can hike up to Bird Mountain and explore the summit. Here.

Near the state park, there is a family-owned restaurant called the Roane Street Grill. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has won several awards for best restaurant in Roane County. They also offer an all-you-can-eat buffet on Sundays. If you feel hungry, you can also stop by the nearby Sonic Drive-In. The restaurant serves all the classic burger favorites, as well as mocktail slushes, and ice cream.
